Good planning is the first step in ensuring a successful project when thinking about building a new home, adding an addition, or remodeling an existing residence. Having worked in the building trades, I am able to combine my knowledge of how houses go together with my passion for the design. I am committed to making sure that my clients are completely satisfied and happy with the functionality and appearance of their project when it is complete.
Many people tend to be very visual and using Chief Architect virtual modeling software allows me to be able to create a virtual 3D model of the structure and then show my clients photo realistic pictures of what the project will look like when it is completed. This really helps us as we go through the steps of designing to be able to make decisions for the project and revisions to the plans well before any construction begins.

Contemplating a building project can be very exciting but it can also seem like a daunting task. Whether you are considering building a new home, adding onto an existing one, or remodeling a home that needs some updating, I can put my expertise to work for you to help you navigate the design process and to help you create new spaces that you love, as well as being functional.
New Home design often starts with discussing general ideas about total square feet and general wants and needs to incorporate into the design. Many times my clients will have pictures of houses that they like the general look of or styles that they are drawn to. Time is usually spent during the initial meeting reviewing customer sketches and ideas.
Addition design usually starts with an onsite meeting to visually view existing conditions. I start with measuring out the existing structure, creating the model of the existing, and then adding the addition to that model. Some important considerations of design would be ensuring that the addition complements the style of the house and that it meets the desired needs and goals for the additional space.
Remodeling design also starts with an onsite meeting to discuss the scope of the project. Measuring and drawing of existing plans can range from just one room, such as a kitchen, to the entire house depending on the project. Common remodeling plans often include moving nonbearing interior walls, adding windows, new cabinets, etc. It is important when planning remodeling projects to make sure that the initial needs and desires are met with the final plans.
